Lady Gaga fans irked as £80 UK gig tickets go for £1100

Lady Gaga the Born this Way Ball Poster

Fuming fans hunting tickets for Lady Gaga’s sold-out UK dates ended up paying nearly 14 times the original value on a website owned by the official seller. Within 60 seconds of sales opening on Thursday, every ticket for the star’s Born This Way gigs had been sold on Ticketmaster

Fans were directed to the firm’s sister company, is a secondary ticket site Get Me In!, where tickets costing £80 on Ticketmaster were on offer at £1,100.

Customers angrily condemned the scandal, with ticket organisers poised to profit twice.

Darren Marsden, 44, logged on to Ticketmaster at the exact time sales began to buy tickets for his wife Michelle’s birthday, but it quickly became clear they were sold out and he was directed to the firm’s sister site.

“Ticketmaster having such a strong hold on event tickets is bordering on a monopoly. The governing bodies should look into how it is allowed to distribute tickets so unfairly,” the Sun quoted Company director Darren, of Bolton as saying.

Ticketmaster, the UK’s biggest ticket seller and an official outlet for Lady Gaga’s gigs in Manchester and London, takes a cut of about 10 percent from all tickets sold.

As owner of Get Me In! it also receives a second cut from re-sold tickets.

Get Me In! is supposed to sell tickets from fans who can no longer attend. But the fact tickets went on sale within minutes leaves that open to question — with many being sold by organised touts. They were going for an average £228.

“We never divert tickets allocated to it for sale at face value to Get Me In! Tickets on Get Me In! are listed by those who wish to re-sell tickets,” Ticketmaster said.

Lady Gaga stirs up dieting debate on Twitter

Lady Gaga NY

Lady Gaga has stirred a debate over pop stars, diets and eating disorders with a tweet that some of her millions of fans have interpreted as insensitive. On Tuesday, the 'Born This Way' singer tweeted "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger." She then added the hash tag #PopSingersDontEat.

Some of her followers interpreted the inclusion of the hash tag as encouraging fans to avoid eating in order to become thin.

But it upset those who recalled her admitting earlier this year to having suffered from bulimia as a student and imploring people to stop obsessing with being overly thin.

"I'm gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off," Gaga said at the conference held in Los Angeles and hosted by former California First Lady Maria Shriver.
The singer also has been an outspoken advocate for empowering youth who feel like outsiders, and the irony between what the singer has said in the past and her tweet was not lost on her more than 22.7 million followers in the Twitterverse.

One post from @StuddedBlack on Friday read "I was on the verge of becoming bulimic and now I just might because of YOU. #PopSingersDontEat"

Others, like this from @fluffness said, "People are taking the #PopSingersDontEat thing way too seriously! Acting like Gaga promotes that. She didn't mean it that way..."

A separate blog post on proud2beme.org, which is affiliated with the National Eating Disorders Association, said "If it was meant to be a joke, there are plenty of people who aren't finding it so funny."

Since the April 10 tweet, Lady Gaga has failed to address the flood of comments. She has only tweeted a few times, telling fans about listening to Radiohead and thanking them for buying tickets to her shows.

Rihanna Bests Lady Gaga For Female YouTube Crown

YouTube has a new queen.

Rihanna has topped Lady Gaga's video views to become the site's most-viewed female artist. The "We Found Love" singer hit 2,068,076,591 views over the weekend.

Gaga, the first musician to hit one billion views on YouTube back in October 2010, has failed to sustain the hundred million-view pace of tracks such as "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" with more recent efforts such as "You and I" and "Marry the Night," which still top 49 and 31 million, respectively.

Rihanna's "We Found Love," by contrast, stands at over 115 million views after three months.

Both women run behind Justin Bieber, YouTube's most popular singer. His videos have earned over 2.2 billion views.

"J. Edgar," Chaz Bono, Lady Gaga and "Glee" are among the television shows, movies and celebrities vying for  the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's 23rd Annual Media Awards.

The awards recognize and honor media for their accurate representations of  the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

GLAAD announced 116 nominees in 25 English-language categories, and 35 Spanish-language nominees in 10 categories on Thursday.

In the English-language categories, cable networks earned 23 nominations, while broadcast networks garnered 19 nominations.

On the film side, GLAAD also nominated the cross-dressing historical drama "Albert Nobbs"  and the senior-citizen coming-out  "Beginners."

Television programs that the anti-defamation organization singled out were Showtime's "Shameless," which features a gay teen character, and "Modern Family," which features a gay couple with an adopted child.

In addition to Gaga, whose "Born This Way" has become an anthem in the gay community, GLAAD also singled out such musicians as Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma and Ricky Martin.

On the news front, New York Times columnists Frank Bruni and Maureen Dowd, "Anderson Cooper 360," and "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" are all nominees.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Fondation Launching in February

Geared toward empowering youth, encouraging equality, and eliminating bullying, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation now has an official launch date. On February 29, the organization, co-founded by Gaga’s mother Cynthia Germanotta, begins its mission, starting with an opening celebration at Harvard University’s Sanders Theater. The organization’s partners Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, the MacArthur Foundation, and the California Endowment will additionally be present at the event.

Concerning the organization, Cynthia Germanotta said upon the announcement: "My daughter's foundation was born out of her passion to create a better world where people are kinder and nicer to one another and are accepted for who they are, regardless of how different they may be. She has experienced many of the struggles that our youth encounter today, and identifies with the lasting effects they can have without proper support. Together, we look forward to creating a new movement that will engage and empower youth and accept them as valuable members of our society."

While Gaga’s Born This Way certainly had more of a message than her debut and The Fame Monster, she has pushed for a stop to bullying and greater LGBT rights outside of her music. Recently, she was nominated for Outstanding Music Artist by GLAAD Media Awards, an organization that recognizes fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of LGBT individuals across all forms of media. In December, the singer received the Hero Award from the Trevor Project. In her acceptance speech, she discussed bullying, stating: "I hope that we can acknowledge all together that where this needs to begin is in the schools. I want my fans and people all over the world to know that there's always somebody that's listening. But I want them to know they're listening before it gets too late."

Lady Gaga nominated for a Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Award

The 25-year-old singer will do battle with 'The Voice' contestant Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma, Hunx and His Punx, and MEN for the Outstanding Music Artist accolade at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which aims to recognise and honour media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

The cast of 'Glee' - which features Chris Colfer and Jayne Lynch - have been given a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series, while the Clint Eastwood-directed movie 'J.Edgar' has been recognized in the Outstanding Film - Wide Release category.

Chaz Bono - who was born a woman named Chastity and began gender reassignment surgery three years ago - has a double nomination with his 'Becoming Chaz' show up for Outstanding Documentary and his appearance on the 'Late Show with David Letterman' earning an Outstanding Talk Show Episode nod.
Mike Thompson, GLAAD's acting president, said in a statement: "As media continue to tell new stories about LGBT people and families, a majority of Americans now support full equality of LGBT Americans.

"This year's nominees enlighten and entertain, while spotlighting the diversity of our community.

Audiences expect to see their own worlds reflected in media, and today more than ever, those include the lives of LGBT people. Viewers know that LGBT characters and stories are simply natural extensions of, and glimpses into, their own experiences from across America."

The awards will be presented at three ceremonies in New York on March 24, Los Angeles on April 21 and San Francisco on June 2.

Lady Gaga’s Monster gift for Beyonce’s baby

The singer gave Beyonce a baby gift – a onesie with the words "Little Monster", the nickname for her fans, in pink diamante.

According to pals, she included a note instructing tot Blue Ivy to wear it to her first Lady Gaga concert. A source said: "Gaga and Beyonce have remained close since they worked together on Telephone.

"While they don't speak often, they are always in touch via email and text. She knew Beyonce would find the present hilarious."

She was probably relieved it wasn't a children's version of the meat dress.

I have influenced Lady Gaga: Madonna

Los Angeles: Lady Gaga has been up front about her admiration for Madonna. But does Madonna share the love? The 'Material Girl' sounded lukewarm in U.S. interviews released on Friday, calling her influence on Gaga's music 'interesting' and 'amusing' Sometimes.

"I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well done," Madonna, 53, told ABC News in a television interview.
"There's a lot of ways to look at it. I can't really be annoyed by it...because obviously, I've influenced her," the pop star told ABC.

The comparisons between the two divas, both known for combining provocative stunts with catchy dance-pop hits, came to a head when Gaga released her 'Born This Way' single last February.

The song was instantly likened to Madonna's 1989 hit 'Express Yourself'.

"When I heard it on the radio I said that sounds very familiar," Madonna said. Asked if that felt annoying, Madonna responded, "It felt reductive."
Pressed by ABC interviewer Cynthia McFadden whether that was a good or bad thing, Madonna replied 'look it up'.

In a separate interview in the upcoming issue of Newsweek, Madonna described 'Born This Way' as 'a wonderful way to redo my song'.

"I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting," she added.

'"Born This Way' became an instant hit for Lady Gaga, 25, topping the charts in 19 countries and becoming the fastest selling song in iTunes history.

The Grammy-winning singer told U.S. talk show host Jay Leno in February that she was Madonna's 'hugest fan personally and professionally.'

As for 'Born This Way', Gaga told Leno; "The good news is that I got an e-mail from her (Madonna's) people, and her sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single."

Kim Kardashian visits Kris Humphries in Minnesota; Andy Williams announces he has bladder cancer

A morning mix of entertainment headlines...

Kim Kardashian headed to Minnesota on Sunday to visit Kris Humphries and the pastor who married the headed-for-divorce couple back in August, Joel Johnson. Reconciliation is “up in the air,” according to TMZ. Well, that could totally kill plans for the E! special “Kim’s Fairytale Divorce” (see “SNL” sketch below.) (People; TMZ)

But Kardashian isn’t the only member of the extended Kardashian-Jenner clan who is keeping busy. Brody Jenner got his head split open over the weekend after trying to break up a fight between girlfriend Avril Lavigne and another woman at L.A.’s Roosevelt Hotel. (The Daily Mail)

Singer Andy Williams announced Saturday that he has bladder cancer. Williams, 83, had missed several recent performances because of an undisclosed medical condition but made a surprise appearance at a previously scheduled Christmas show in Branson, Mo., where he announced that he has the disease. “People with cancer are getting through this thing,” the “Moon River” crooner said. “They’re kicking it, and they’re winning more and more every year. And I’m going to be one of them.” (Associated Press)

Justin Bieber plans to take a DNA test when he returns from a two-week trip to Europe to prove he did not father a child. Then he plans to sue Mariah Yeater , the woman who filed the paternity suit against him. This according to TMZ, which cites “sources directly connected with Justin.” (TMZ)

Hayden Panettiere was shocked (or at least pretend-shocked) by an onstage streaker during the MTV Europe Music Awards. (Gawker)

By the way, Lady Gaga was the big winner at the MTV EMAs, taking trophies for best song (“Born This Way”), video, female artist and fans. She also wore impressively weird outfits. Which I know comes as a shock. (Washington Post; Hollywood Reporter)

Oscar producer Brett Ratner has hired writers from “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” as well as Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, who worked with Oscar host Eddie Murphy on “Saturday Night Live” and the “Nutty Professor” movies. Which means the Academy Awards might be funny this year. Maybe. (L.A. Times)

An Osbourne recovers from a head injury, after the jump.

Kelly Osbourne is recovering after getting a head injury over the weekend in Miami. It’s unclear exactly how the E! Fashion Police commentator cracked her head open, but she’s fine now. (Us)

MTV EMAs: style hits and misses

The stars left their fashion sense well and truly behind them as panto style ruled at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The bigger the name, the crazier the outfit at the glittering Belfast bash - where Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber were the big winners.

From space-age silver disc dresses to fluorescent body-con catsuits, the celebs gave fashion pundits plenty to talk about.

Leading the charge - as always - was Lady GaGa who claimed four gongs. She sported not one but two surreal choices in red and then silver.

Love her or hate her, she always gives the punters an eyeful and her silver disc dress with a black, mask-like hat was a jaw-dropping dream. Or should that be nightmare.

Her final outfit was an after-party crowd pleaser - a futuristic silver gown by Paco Rabanne.

The thigh's the limit for Selena Gomez - who wowed in a flirty yet feminine mini dress by British label Marchesa. The daring cream creation was one of the biggest style hits of the night.

Hayden Panettiere proved a real style Hero amidst the madness in an elegant monochrome mini dress.

Also pint-sized and ready to party was Jersey Shore blabbermouth Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi – choosing a relatively low-key LBD and glitter heels.

It was curtains for Bar Refaeli – in a bizarre black mini dress with dip-dye side panels.

Neither short and sweet nor floor-length and fabulous, the creation set the Bar for suspect styles that missed their mark on the night.

But Bar was not the only star to get it wrong.

Evanescence singer Amy Lee looked dowdy in tartan Vivienne Westwood and work boots.

And the usually flawless Louise Roe failed to impress in a red playsuit that only highlighted her boyish frame.

Russian Replay model Irina Shayk turned heads for all the right reasons in a slashed-to-the-waist leather and silk gown - a tad on the tacky side but when you're this beautiful you can pull almost anything off.

The same can't be said for British singer and model Lauren Bennett - who tried far too hard in a S&M-style catsuit with embellished shoulders. A style flop.

Playing it far safer was fellow Brit talent Katy B - keeping her look simple in a black playsuit livened up by red heels and a cheeky plunging neckline.

Hollyoaks beauty Jennifer Metcalfe took the plunge too, daring the bare in a sexy black top and wet-look leggings. The killer body of the night.

Leaving the boring black look of lesser stars behind her, Katy Perry showed how A-list pop styling is down - and it wasn't subtle.

Like a walking, talking strawberry milkshake, the star wore a retro pastel mini dress, pink leather jacket and platform brogues. Bonkers but beautiful.

Also bonkers but flying the flag for Britain was Jessie J. She rocked two bodysuits, the first was a slick cut-out look.

But her second Dali-esque print dress, proved too 'busy' to win praise. Poor Jessie's pretty face all but disappeared behind its blinding appeal.

Thank goodness then for Jessie's third and final choice of the night - a brassy but brilliant leopard print gown.

Not quite managing the same roar sex appeal was David Hasselhoff. If ever there was a 'Daddddd' fashion disaster just waiting to be mocked it's this man's poor attempt to Bieber things up with a hat and jeans.

Justin Bieber showed the Hoff how to strike the right note in his smart jeans with a collared shirt covered by a black jumper.

Lady Gaga confirmed for X Factor results show performance

Gaga, who was first rumoured to be performing on the X Factor results show last week, has been confirmed as one of the show's guest stars on Sunday, November 13.

The wacky singer will sing her new single Marry the Night, from the album Born This Way and the performance is expected to be impressively theatrical in typical Gaga style.
Lady Gaga has performed on The X Factor before, when she took to the stage to sing Bad Romance from an oversize bathtub in 2009, wearing an eye-catching gold outfit and surrounding herself with several scantily clad dancers.

After ITV announced the news today, her fans took to Twitter to share their excitement at the prospect of seeing their idol perform live on the show, with one fan calling it: 'the best news i've heard all year'.
Another Twitter user added: 'Lady Gaga is performing on X Factor  next weekend!!! I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT SHE DOES ON HER PERFORMANCE!!!!'.

Meanwhile, reports that former X Factor contestants One Direction will also be performing on The X Factor on November 13 remain unconfirmed.

Lady Gaga Wraps Up Warm For London Visit

The 'Marry The Night' star was spotted wearing the huge coat as she left the Soho Screening Rooms.

The purpose of Lady Gaga's visit to London is unclear, although it comes just days after the star performed a one-off gig in India.

The concert, which formed part of an after-party for the Formula One Grand Prix, saw the star perform 'Marry The Night' live for the first time.

Speaking to fans at the concert, Lady Gaga said: "So, I feel like I've waited a lifetime to come here tonight, and I'm very grateful.

"I'm so, so happy that I get to be here and sing for all of you, and I just wanted to make it so perfect."

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has directed the video for 'Marry The Night', which is released as her next single on 21st November.

Lady Gaga to release 3 new editions of 'Born this Way' in India

On her first India visit, the international singing sensation Lady Gaga has announced the release of three albums by 23 November. The announcement took place at the press conference held in Delhi.

The three albums include ‘Born This Way The Remix,’ ‘Born This Way - The Collection’ [Born This Way album + DVD + The Remix] and the Emmy Award winning HBO special  ‘Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour  at Madison Square Garden’ on DVD and Blu-ray including never-seen before footage.

At the press conference Gaga said, “Namaste India! I have always wanted to come to this beautiful country for a very long time and finally it’s been possible. More than the place, the thing that makes this country so beautiful is its people – I want to thank you all for your love and support!”

Lady Gaga was presented a plaque for the success of her albums `The Fame,’ `The Fame Monster’, and `Born This Way’, which has been certified as Double Platinum and Gold in India.

UMI VP Sunil D’Sa said, “With the massive success of Gaga’s albums in India ever since she broke onto the scene in 2008, we at Universal Music India always wanted to bring her down to give her fans a chance to experience the Gaga phenomenon in `person’. Thus, we are ecstatic that she’s made this possible and are indeed privileged to host a `superstar’ as Lady Gaga here in Delhi, India. She is a superstar in the truest sense of the word as she is just not a great musician, but a fashion icon, a fabulous live performer and a philanthropist as well. Her latest album, `Born This Way’, has been one of the fastest selling international albums in India this year and the good news is that her fans can now look forward to the new Gaga releases that are lined for November 2011.”

Lady Gaga wants to open foundation for disadvantaged children

Lady Gaga has been in New Delhi performing at an after party for the Indian Grand Prix, but it seems her trip to the city has inspired other ideas …

Gaga has revealed she wants to open her own foundation for underprivileged kids, after having visited two orphanages in the Indian city.

A source told The Sun: "Gaga would one day like to set up a foundation in her name to help children and, now her career has really taken off, she feels as if it's the right time to do something."

And apparently Gaga doesn't just want to be another token celebrity doing their 'bit' for charity, either.

"She isn't the type of celebrity who just throws cash at things," the source said.

"She wants to research it properly and do something huge."

Huge? Huger than, like, her 12-inch heels?

Lady Gaga in India: Asked to Wear Lettuce Dress, Big-Ups Philosopher Osho

If PETA India has it their way, Lady Gaga will be sporting a dress made of lettuce this weekend.

In a letter to Gaga's publicist, PETA India has reportedly outlined ( according to Reuters) a challenge to Gaga, calling for the singer -- who famously donned a "meat dress" at the 2010 VMAs -- to embrace vegetarianism. PETA's plan is for Gaga to wear a gown made of lettuce in a photoshoot while in India -- a dare the pop star has neither accepted nor denied.

Although she is currently visiting India, Gaga's reasons are not salad-related; the Mother Monster will perform in New Delhi at an after-party for the country's first Formula One Grand Prix race on Sunday (Oct. 30).

During a press conference heralding her arrival in New Delhi today (Oct. 28), Gaga fully celebrated her first appearance in India with a beehive hairdo dyed the colors of the Indian flag. Speaking with reporters, she embraced Indian philosopher Osho (whose reading on rebellion she's found particularly inspiring) and likened her "Born This Way" album to reincarnation.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gaga told reporters, "This album ['Born This Way'] is about reincarnation -- reincarnation during your one singular lifetime -- this one. Not the one after but right now. It's about being reborn over and over again to liberate yourself to love and music and art religion and passion. I believe that you are never trapped in anything. I believe that you can always liberate yourself and that's what this album is about."

Lady Gaga, Beyonce And More Musical Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner, and even though times are tough, that doesn't mean you shouldn't still have a kick-ass costume. And since no one wants to end up trick or treating as a lame ghost (or a "sexy border patrol agent"), I'm here to help, with a handful of homemade Halloween costumes that allow you to still dress up as your favorite artist, while not breaking the bank.

Of course, if you don't have a bank to break, fret not, because a lot of my ideas don't require a costume at all — just your imagination, a fierce attitude and an awareness of irony that borders on, well, ironic. So, if you're at a loss for your next costume — or too broke to care — read on, because, boy, do I have some suggestions for you. After all, Halloween is for everyone (especially those who love candy), and who among us doesn't want to dress up like Coldplay?!? Have a look, and send me some candy!

Adele: Deceptively easy. Refrain from speaking to anyone all night (vocal rest!) while firing through Marlboros like a mahjong player on a bender. For added authenticity, sell approximately one bazillion albums.

Beyoncé: Take a balloon and stuff it beneath your $10,000 Reed Krakoff dress, mimic B's matronly glow with a $7,000 HD Ruby and Diamond Peel Facial, strap your $1,200 Christian Louboutin heels on extra tight to replicate the ankle-swelling side effects of pregnancy. Or just down a crate of Four Loko and get all crazy like the "Ring the Alarm" video.

Britney Spears: Get a boyfriend with exactly 24 rippling abdominal muscles. Consume Strawberry Frappuccinos as if they were being discontinued. Be a commercially viable force, much to the consternation of critics and naysayers the world over. Say "y'all" a lot.

Coldplay: Dress in matching, finger-painted outfits with three of your closest friends (or, in a pinch, tattered French Revolutionary garb). Donate all your candy to Oxfam. Hang out with Brian Eno. Maintain an almost annoying level of self-efficacy.

Justin Bieber: Just get a snake named Johnson.

Kanye West: Communicate to every single person you meet as if you were speaking in ALL CAPS. Wear sunglasses, even at night. Have a bizarre thing for the Olsen twins. Over-share when it comes to your personal feelings and sexual proclivities. Create complex, Machiavellian conspiracy theories. Treat every comment and criticism as if it were a flaming sword to the torso. Cut a Maybach in half with your pal Jay-Z.

Katy Perry: Dress up as a mermaid. Or a gawky, orthodontically enhanced pre-teen. Or an S&M cheetah. Or a space alien. Or, really, you could just lick a bunch of candy and stick it to various parts of your body. Katy's simple.

Lady Gaga: Sure, you could go the easy route and just trick or treat as Jo Calderone (and deliver a lengthy monologue while doing so), but where's the fun in that? Instead, why not meld yourself with a motorcycle, like the British boxer-turned-model, make a drug-fueled music video with him. Note: May not get you a ton of candy on the farms of Northern Ireland.

Madonna beats Lady Gaga to Superbowl performance

It looks like Madonna may have just landed a touchdown for Superbowl 2012, if the latest reports turn out to be correct.

The 53-year-old is rumoured to be the headline act at next year's Superbowl on February 5 and will perform to millions of people who tune in to watch the final NFL game in America.

The superstar is reported to have beaten eccentric upstart Lady Gaga to land the spot, where she will follow in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake's performance with Janet Jackson caused huge controversy when part of her outfit was ripped off to reveal her nipple.

Perhaps Madonna - who is no stranger to making waves herself - will have something naughty planned for the event.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "When Madonna heard Gaga was in the frame, she knew she had to step up her efforts. She is going to deliver the kind of show never before seen in NFL history."

Is Madonna a good choice for the show or should they have gone with Gaga? Let us know below...
