Justin Bieber Lights Up The Cover of Seventeen Magazine

Justin Bieber Seventeen Magazine Cover

Justin Bieber got up close eith her girlfriend Selena Gomez by speaking about her in the Seventeen magazine issue. He also features on the cover of the latest magazine issue.

Just to see a smile on a smile on Selena’s face, Justin Bieber is known to hire out entire cinemas and sports stadiums. So he and Selena, 19, can enjoy a date in privacy. Well, we guess Justin’s song ‘U Smile’ is just the right way to express his feelings for her.

“I’m just trying to make her happy, that’s all. I think it’s important to make all women feel like they’re princesses, because every girl is a princess. I’m serious,” Justin told the magazine.

The fan-friendly couple are pretty much down to Earth as they have seen choosing out small parks instead of lavish restaurants to meet up and spend some time. So its not just the fan fare that they want. They too need some space alone. A recent example was when they both took out some time from their busy schedule and were seen eating Subway sandwiches at Griffith Park.

Both Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been in a relationship for over a year now and it keeps getting stronger. All you gals out there keep on waiting!!

Coming back to the magazine, the 18 year old answered some questions about his new album ‘Believe’ expected to release later this year. He also touched upon some other topics like his fears, his ardent fans and about his role model.

His role model? “Usher is who I look to for guidance. From the beginning, he told me to put family first and you’ll always succeed, because your family will never leave you. He told me to always stay humble and never forget where I came from.”

How will he remain close to his fans? “A lot of times, when artists grow older, they lose their younger fans because they’re just trying to get older fans. But if you try to make good music, then you’ll just appease everybody. I just want to make music that’s good for everybody.”

Biggest fear? “Losing a family member… I’ve never lost anyone, so I don’t know what the feeling would be. It would just be scary.”

The ‘Baby’ Singer still has a long way to go but at the moment he is riding high with his hugely success single ‘Boyfriend’ topping the music charts.

A Casual Looking Justin Bieber Spotted at his Manager’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

Justin Bieber Wedding Rahearsal

Justin Bieber was seen at the West Palm Beach, Florida on Friday(13th April) at the wedding rehearsal dinner of Scooter Braun, the man behind the success of the teen heartthrob.

The 18 year old wore a coal dark V-neck tee with dark jean shorts and mixed shoes – one being red and the other blue. A casual looking Bieber was seen staring intently at his right thumb, maybe wondering whom to rope in the next A-list chart-topping star to collaborate with him on his next album.

The upcoming album of the ‘Boyfriend’ singer is titled ‘Believe’ and is one of the most talked about album to be released later this year. the latest to collaborate with Bieber was Taylor Swift who has given the album a ‘Country’ taste by writing a song with Justin. Along with her, hip-hop heavyweights like Drake and Kanye West have also joined the brigade.

Justin has had quite a busy year so far. Even though he hasn’t started his ‘Believe’ tour to promote his album he has been in the news throughout the year. He out rightly supported the documentary feature ‘Bully’ by asking his fans to watch the film. His inspirational song ‘Born To Be Somebody’ will be featured in the new TV spot of the film. He even punk’d his good friend Taylor Swift by making her believe that she jeopardized a wedding yacht party.

But above all, his chart topping success of the single ‘Boyfriend’ has been the talk of the town. The hit single has already crossed the 500,000 downloads mark making it one of the most popular singles this season.
We are sure that Justin must be greatly involved the wedding planning. Here are some snaps of the wedding rehearsal dinner of Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun.

Justin Bieber was a Victim of Bullying

Justin Bieber

Perhaps the reason Justin Bieber has been so outspoken in his efforts to reduce the rating for the documentary ‘Bully’ from R to PG-13 is that he was bullied himself. The ‘Boyfriend’ singer made the admission during a chat with Showbiz Tonight.

“I was bullied. I feel like most people in their lifetime have been bullied at some point,” he said. “I think it’s about time that people start making a change. A lot of times principals just let it go, teachers let it go, other students just let it go. But I think this movie is powerful and can help change a lot of lives.”

Bieber was part of the successful online campaign to get the MPAA to lower the rating for ‘Bully,’ which documents bullying in schools. With its new PG-13 rating, kids under 18 will be able to see the film without a parent, potentially exposing the film to a much larger audience of young people.

Bieber’s ‘Born to Be Somebody’ has been used in trailers for the documentary. He previously said, “I think that ‘Bully’ can serve a purpose and there is more to it than the curse words. Thirteen-year-olds can handle a few curse words. It’s really powerful. It should be rated PG-13.” ‘Bully’ premieres in theaters today, April 13.

Justin Bieber's New Album Includes Many Collaborators, Including Taylor Swift

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has a lot of heavy hitters on his upcoming album "Believe." In addition to hip hop stars such as Kanye West, Drake, Timbaland, and Usher, he also has a tune with country pop star Taylor Swift.

On Thursday he revealed to U.K.'s Capital FM Radio, ""You know, the whole album is just so different, there's so many different people collaborating. I mean I even wrote a song with Taylor Swift, so the whole album ranges differently."

He recently dismissed rumors he teamed up with British band One Direction on a new track after singer Niall Horan sparked speculation of a collaboration.

Bieber's recent single, "Boyfriend," is a huge hit, and he's bound to have several more once the album is released this summer.

Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift Collaborate on Song? Believe It!

Justin Bieber Taylor Swift

Who hasn't the Biebs united creative juices with? (That sounded a lot worse than we meant it to. )

During an interview with the U.K.'s Capital FM Radio Thursday, Justin Bieber dropped the news that he collaborated with none other than his GF's BFF Taylor Swift for his third album, Believe.

Shrieking at this point is totally OK.

"We worked with Mike Posner for 'Boyfriend,' so that turned out well," he told the radio station. "It's crazy. I mean, I even wrote a song with Taylor Swift, so the whole album ranges differently." Whether we'll actually hear Swift's voice has yet to be determined.

J.B. has also hinted at wanting to do something with Adam Levine (or maybe he already has?).

"i think we need to do something on @NBCTheVoice," he tweeted to the show coach. And continued with some upcoming news, "Next Tues @nbcthevoice Im gonna WORLD PREMIERE the first clip of the #BOYFRIENDvideo ...might also announce some major #BELIEVE news too."

Believe is expected to drop this summer and will also include the musical sounds of Drake, Kanye West, Timbaland, Usher and Diplo.

Justin Bieber Reveals His Five Key 'Boyfriend' Tips And Talks New Video

Justin Bieber MTV

The countdown is on to Justin Bieber's next album release, Believe. And if the response to the album's first single, "Boyfriend," is any indication, the record's appeal might span far beyond the realm of his devoted Beliebers.

"The reaction's been great [to 'Boyfriend']; not only have I got good reactions from my fans, but great reactions from people who, you know, [might not usually listen to my music]. I've gotten messages like 'You know, I never would have listened to Justin and now I love this song,' " he explained to MTV News. "So, it's really great feedback."

It's that kind of enthusiasm that Bieber is taking with him as he works on the record in its final stages. He's already hit the studio with folks like Drake, will.i.am, Diplo and Usher and is just chugging along before he has to wrap up and send it out into the world.

"There's not a confirmed release date. It's this summer. I'm really happy with the outcome of it so far," he said. "I mean, we're almost done. We're just kind of putting the finishing touches on it. It should be good."

But before then, fans will have to satisfy their appetites with the Colin Tilley-directed "Boyfriend" video, which should drop in the near future. Unfortunately, the visual won't mirror the single's choice lyrics, "I could be your Buzz Lightyear/ Fly across the globe."

"No, no, I won't be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear," he said. "I think there's some copyright issues, I can't use that."

Bieber also gave MTV a few 'Boyfriend' tips of his very own, saying: "I don't know if I'm even the best boyfriend, but I can give a few suggestions."

Well, after taking a second to get his tips together, Selena Gomez's beau had timeless advice for any clueless fellas out there: "I think being honest and patient, because girls can be tough sometimes, so you just got to be patient. That's two," he explained. "Forgive, and have fun, because it's about having fun."

So, what was Bieber's final piece of advice? "Last one?" he said. "Be faithful."

In addition to those five simple steps, Bieber recently dished to Seventeen magazine about another one of his dating philosophies. "I'm just trying to make [Selena] happy, that's all," he shared. "I think it's important to make all women feel like they're princesses, because every girl is a princess. I'm serious."

Mission girl Carly Rae Jepsen shares plenty with Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber didn’t call her maybe, he called her for certain.

Bieber phoned Carly Rae Jepsen in the middle of her Valentine’s Day appearance on MuchMusic to announce that she was signed to his manager’s record label, School Boy, in the U.S.

The song that got her signed to Scooter Braun’s School Boy is “Call Me Maybe,” that went to platinum and  No. 1 after its release last September and is on her new Curiosity EP, which came out also on Valentine’s Day through the Vancouver-based 604 Records.

Once he heard “Call Me Maybe,” Bieber declared it the “catchiest song ever” and told Braun that it was a smash. That was all Braun needed to hear.

Jepsen hails from Mission and has steadily built from her third place finish on the 2007 season of Canadian Idol. She won the Canadian Radio Awards in 2008 for her “Tug Of War,” the title track of her first album and has had two Juno nominations since. She’s also  worked fruitfully with producer Ryan Stewart and Marianas Trench’s Josh Ramsay, a co-writer of “Call Me Maybe,” which, indeed, is catchy pop-rock.

Currently on tour as the opening act for Hanson, Jepsen has something else in common with Bieber. She’s the first Canadian to have No. 1 single in the digital format since Biebs did it in 2010 with his “Baby.”

See Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez in 'Call Me Maybe' Music Video

Justin Bieber really wants to help fellow Canadian cutie Carly Rae Jepsen make it big—he recently enlisted his girlfriend Selena Gomez and High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale to star in a re-imagining of her music video for "Call Me Maybe."

Justin's manager Scooter Braun has taken Carly under his wing, and the Biebs is doing his best to help the 26-year-old singer out by singing her praises. However, she should get a really big boost in popularity now that Justin teamed up with some powerful pals to promote her song.

Carlos Pena of Big Time Rush posted the "Call Me Maybe" music video remake on his YouTube channel yesterday, and it features the BTR boys, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Alfredo Flores, and Samantha Droke goofing off and lip-synching the lyrics to the song.

They appear to be having the best house party ever as they dance, wear fake moustaches, and use bananas as telephones. The Hunger Games book even makes an appearance at one point.

There's one really cute part of the video where Justin and Selena look like they're about to kiss, but Ashley pushes their heads apart before their lips meet. Jelena also manages to sneak a little bumping and grinding into the video near the end when everyone is in a conga line.

It's a really fun video, but it's a little sad that Carly Rae Jepsen wasn't invited to the party. Her original music video was just as cute, even without the presence of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Big Time Rush. In it she tries to impress a guy by being sexy and washing a car. He comes to help her up when she falls off of the hood, and she thinks she's about to get his number—but he gives it to one of her male band mates instead. At least Carly seems to share Justin's sense of humor (and she also has that Taylor Swift sweetness going for her).

Here's a random observation—Carly looks like a brunette version of iCarly star Jennette McCurdy.

You can check out both version of the music video below and sound off on which one you like best.

Op-Ed: No 'Fear' in Justin Bieber's film acting future

As someone who has written on the subject of Justin Drew Bieber now and again I got a sense for nonsense when it comes to the Never Say Never Kid. And these recent rumors about him wanting to star in a remake of the movie 'Fear' smack of it.

Now Bieber is on record as having put it out there that he'd like to act in a movie in 2012. In Oct. of 2011 he told MTV reporter James Montgomery in Chile on his South America tour that "hopefully next summer I can start on a movie or something." He also told CTV News in Canada that a script was being written for him to star in.

As with Elvis Presley decades ago and now Justin Timberlake, a film makes sense for Bieber. He has the feel of a camera from the hundreds of interviews he's done and his biopic, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. He's also acted on 2 episodes of CSI: Las Vegas. The part of the rumors that is nonsense is him doing a remake of Fear; that simply does not seem his style and is improbable at best .

The 1996 movie was the vehicle that catapulted Mark Wahlberg to fame and it did well at the box office. It's dark, very dark, a nasty guy obsessed with a woman, and it is not Bieber material. The rumors come from a site called MovieWeb and center on an alleged studio musician who they claim is working with Bieber on 'Believe.' Because of that the musician, MovieWeb says, not to be identified.

The number of musicians at work on 'Believe' is not likely high, so surely Bieber could figure out who was passing information along. Talking to the press might create a climate of mistrust in the studio were it not for one thing - Bieber would be unlikely to care. It's hardly scandalous information and if a musician passed it on to the press it seems unlikely they'd have a problem with having their name used. That makes the claim sound as if it's completely fabricated.

Justin Bieber: Keeping his Career Clean
The alleged source is supposed to have said that Bieber wants to do a dark film because he's looking to get himself an edgier persona. Away from the 'nice guy' image. This has become a cliche about him but in reality he seems quite happy with his image. He recently told the magazine 'V' that he wanted to keep the respect and trust of parents. "I’m never going to make myself so the kids and their parents don’t respect me," he said.

Parents would not want their children clamoring to go see a Justin Bieber movie that is full of graphic and gruesome subject matter, as Fear is. "There are some artists (that parents) won't let their kids go and see because they think they’re a bad influence," he told 'V'. He added that he doesn't want to be one of them.
So have no fear - Bieber won't be doing Fear.

Justin Bieber: Half a decade on YouTube

It's been 5 years since Justin Bieber's mother Patricia Lynn "Pattie" Mallette uploaded to YouTube two videos of her then 13-year-old son singing Neyo's 'So Sick' and Lil Bow Wow’s ‘Basketball’ in a local singing competition.

Mallette created the YouTube channel ‘kidrauhl’ on January 15, 2007. It was named after Justin’s father, who referred to himself as ‘Lordrauhl’. Four days after, she uploaded the two videos more that would eventually kick off her son’s singing career.

Justin’s version of ‘So Sick’, the very first video uploaded on the channel, was initially intended only for Pattie's friends and family to see. It now has almost 5 million views to date.

But even after the young Canadian singer took on a personal manager, Scooter Braun, in 2008, it took almost two years before he got signed onto a joint venture with singer and songwriter Usher.

Five years after

Today, ‘The Biebs’ —the name affectionately given him by his ‘Belieber’ fans— has an impressive 16.7 million Twitter followers and 39.4 million Facebook “Likes.”

From just ten videos five years ago, YouTube channel kidrauhl now has a total of 75 videos on queue. In addition, the music video of Bieber's hit single “Baby”, hosted by YouTube Channel JustinBieberVEVO, has 695 million views with one million likes to date.

It is very evident in his Twitter account that Bieber appreciates his fans a lot.

After a confessed Belieber Drew Ryniewicz got eliminated last Dec. 1, 2011 in Season 1 of X Factor USA, Justin Bieber tweeted her an inspirational message: “Keep your head up. I lost my first competition too. This is just the beginning for you. Never say never. Best wishes.”

Whether we may like it or not, Justin Bieber is a star in his own right.

“I’m looking forward to influencing others in a positive way.” Justin says. — TJD, GMA News

Justin Bieber Wants to Star In 'Fear' Remake

File this under news we seriously never saw coming: Justin Bieber reportedly wants to star in a remake of ‘Fear.’ The original 1996 film starred Mark Wahlberg as the unhealthily obsessed (huge understatement) boyfriend of Reese Witherspoon.

It seems to be an extreme leap for the squeaky clean Bieber. We’re taking the rumors with a grain of salt until they’re further substantiated, but for what it’s worth, here’s the scoop.

An anonymous source told MovieWeb that the Biebs has been going over numerous film ideas and that his ultimate role model is rapper-turned-Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg. While the source also said that any potential remakes would be toned down to a PG-13 rating, Bieber is “obsessed” with the original R-rated version.

To give you an idea of why pulling off the role may be difficult for the polished, gentlemanly Bieber, consider what the original ‘Fear’ entailed (warning: it’s graphic and disturbing). Wahlberg’s character, David McCall, rapes a girl played by Alyssa Milano, beheads a family pet, performs a sexual act on Witherspoon’s character on a roller coaster, beats himself up, carves tattoos into his own skin, breaks one man’s neck and threatens to shoot another. We had nightmares just typing that!

We can’t picture Bieber doing anything close to what we just described, even just in a film. However, it would certainly be a challenge for him, which may be what he wants. Another motivation for a remake? Bieber already has connections to the actor formerly known as Marky Mark: Wahlberg cast Bieber in his upcoming basketball film.

While we don’t doubt Bieber is talented enough to pull off a dark role like David McCall, we somehow think a flick about shooting hoops is a slightly better fit.

Bieber's sweet tweets boost 'Be a Donor' campaign

Canadian crooner Justin Bieber has answered the call to help a 20-yearold Barrhaven woman's campaign to raise awareness of organ donation.

Bieber responded to a Twitter campaign started by Hélène Campbell to encourage people to register their consent for organ donation by retweeting one of her tweets, making it visible to his 16 million followers.

"Hey @justinbieber! I BELIEB you should use that Canadian voice of yours and help save lives like mine," Campbell wrote, adding the hashtags #beanorgandonor and #giveblood, as well as the beadonor. ca website address.

As well as retweeting her message, Bieber, who is currently in California recording an album, added three messages of his own. "i got the word .... You have amazing strength. I got u," his first tweet, posted at about 3 a.m. EST Saturday, said. He then urged his followers to "help spread the word," and included Campbell's blog URL, alungstory.ca. He subsequently sent Campbell another note - "NEVER SAY NEVER," - repeating the title of a song from his My Worlds Acoustic album.

"What he did was far beyond what we wanted him to do," an elated Campbell said from Toronto, where she is waiting for a lung transplant. "He told all his fans, 'I want you to do this for me.'

"This means that awareness is being raised," she added. "It means that when you dream big and never say never - his words, not mine - we can attain amazing things. I'm just super-encouraged; I had a goal to raise awareness, to reach out to more people, and that goal was met."

She's uncertain about her next step. She'd like to get her hero, comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres, involved, but on Saturday was spending her time putting together a thank-you video for Bieber, to put up on her blog.

"It doesn't stop here," she promised. "We'll let (Bieber's) fans do their thing, and I'm going to think of something else to come up with."

Campbell's crusade, in which she urged people to tweet Bieber's Twitter account on Wednesday, helped spark a fourfold increase in visitors on Thursday to beadonor.ca, the website of Trillium Gift of Life Network, the organization the oversees organ donations and transplants in Ontario.

Bieber's musical director and guitarist, Ottawaborn Dan Kanter, responded Thursday, while Juno Awardwinner Bif Naked, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty also helped the cause by getting involved Friday.

Kanter, who has watched Campbell's videos and followed her tweets, said he felt it was important to get involved, especially since he is from the area. Reached in Miami on Saturday, he said he was glad to see Bieber join in.

"I was very happy when I saw that Justin had posted several tweets about it. He is incredibly hard working and a very special person. I'm always amazed that no matter how busy he is, Justin and his manager, Scooter Braun, always make time for charity and to support important causes. Even in this case where just a few tweets are so important because they can reach millions of people."

Campbell said she would have understood if Bieber had not responded, citing concerns that must weigh heavily on the celebrity.

"He has to think about it strategically," she said. "He's a really big star, and if he starts to say one thing, then people might come at him for another."

Trillium's website was visited by 1,458 people Thursday, a far cry from the 300 who typically drop in each day. Of those, 326 registered to be donors. That number is usually closer to 50 a day. When reached Saturday, a spokesperson said they wouldn't be able to determine the effect Bieber's tweets had on donor registration until Monday.

"Just the fact that so many people are rallying for the cause, I find that so inspiring," said Campbell on Friday. "More than 300 people registered to be donors on Thursday, and each one of them can save eight lives. That's a possibility of a lot of lives being saved."

Campbell learned in July that she suffers idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. In October, her lung capacity was measured at just 24 per cent, and she was told then that she would need a transplant. The average wait time for lungs in Ontario is between six and 24 months.

Justin Bieber Cheating on Selena Gomez with Mystery Girl, 'Annie' ?

Remember back in the day—circa last summer—when rumors of Justin Bieber cheating on Selena Gomez were buzzing like flies around the Internet? Well, they're ba-aack. Interestingly, the latest rumor suggests in coyly veiled, non-name-specific language that the Teen Dream has a temporary chick on the side. Furthermore, his side squeeze is temporary because Selena is reportedly dealing with some issues which have rendered her uninterested in sex. Oops. So he's found a stand-in to fulfill his needs until his lady-love returns to normal.

A popular Justin Bieber fan site recently reported a rumor running rampant online about an " A-list boyish singer" and a "B-list actress/singer" who are having problems in their relationsip. Admittedly, the troubled couple's description fits Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to a tee.

"This A-list boyish singer is having some relationship difficulties right now," tattles the source. "Turns out that his B-list actress/singer girlfriend had more on her mind than just having sex the past two weeks and he just does not get it. So, he has quietly found someone else until his girlfriend is ready to resume."

Yikes. Although, the source cannot verify or even recall the girlfriend's name (possibly Annie, or something beginning with an "A"), the couple's description certainly sounds a lot like Jelena. Predictably, most fans dismissed the rumor is just that—a rumor.

"This is not true," wrote one outraged belieber. "Selena and Justin are both virgins. They promised they're gonna wait until marriage. Justin...would never lie to us fans."

Other beliebers weren't so sure.

"HA! You're still living in THAT fantasy?" scoffed a more cynical fan. "They haven't had sex? Whatever helps you sleep at night"

And of course, haters blamed the whole thing on La Gomez:

"If anything," sneered a jealous belieber, "Selena would be the one to cheat on Justin."

Astonishingly, one intelligent belieber put the whole thing in perspective on a multiplicity of levels:

"This does not prove anything first off," she wrote. "Second, it is possible to be moral and strict about your morals, yet have sex. Sex is not a bad thing. That doesn't mean people who have sex are wh***s, sl**s, or bad. It also doesn't mean that people who abstain are bad, prudes, uptight, or perfect. There's a saying..., 'Having sex doesn't make you a wh***, just like being a virgin doesn't make you a saint.' ... whatever someone chooses is best for them does not make them an immoral or bad person."

Bravo, you smart, non-judgemental little belieber.

But back to the rumor. Is it just a rumor? Is it even aimed at the Biebs? And least important of all, are Justin and Selena both still virgins? Although Justin is obviously a hormonally driven teenage guy, it's highly unlikely that he would risk his reputation as a perfect teen role model for a two-week roll in the hay with anonymous Annie. On the other hand, to a teen, two weeks without sex must seem like two years. It has also been rumored that reports of the Baby singer's cheating sexcapades first appeared online when Jelena was in Mexico. Of course, that doesn't mean that they were having sex. And didn't Selena Gomez bring along several girlfriends on that trip? Could one of them be the mystery girl? One of Selena's gal pals has a name beginning with an "A"— Ashley Benson.

Justin Bieber Gets Invitation for Corruption From Nathan Sykes

Justin Bieber will turn 18 in March, and Nathan Sykes is ready to corrupt him. Nathan is part of the British band, The Wanted. The band toured with Justin during part of the South American leg of his tour last year. People in the United States are just now getting exposure to the five gorgeous young men who make up the group.

In the UK, these guys are nearly as popular with the young girls as Justin Bieber is all around the world. Their reputations are what set them apart. The guys of The Wanted are more prone to be the guys girls do not want to take home to meet the parents. They have a bit of that bad boy thing going for them and it is obviously working judging by their fan base. The guys just ventured onto American soil a couple of weeks ago, and are already amassing a large American fan base.

Nathan Sykes is ready to show Justin a good time, as soon as he is legal. He reveals, "When he turns 18 we're going to fly him over." Nathan is referring to the UK, where it is legal to drink alcohol at the age of 18. The invitation for debauchery will probably be passed over. Justin has an image to uphold and has already said he has no plans to jump into that drinking and partying scene.

Of course, he doesn't have to drink. He could be the minder while the others get plastered. Drunk or sober, girls will no doubt clamor to catch even the tiniest glimpse of two of the hottest stars on the planet. Nathan Sykes has a pretty strong following. Jay McGuiness points out the effect Nathan and Justin would have on females, "Imagine Nathan and Bieber walking around London. They'd kill it. The girls would go crazy." Can girls handle that much cuteness all at once? It would be tough, but certainly manageable.

Justin Bieber Ignores Organ Donor Plea

Justin Bieber was asked to retweet a message in support of organ donation yesterday, but he has not done so. Despite his lack of support, Helene Campbell is satisfied with the attention her cause managed to raise.

The 20-year-old appealed to Justin's charitable nature and asked him to tweet his support of organ donation. The singer has not done so thus far, but someone from his camp did. Helene is thankful for any support her cause gets. She tells the Ottawa Citizen, "The fact that Dan Kanter mentioned something is really cool." She admits her hopes were raised after Kanter's tweet and was positive Justin would answer her call. He did not.

In fact, Justin has remained pretty quiet on the social-networking site. Celebrities have to be very careful what they say or tweet. The public is a finicky bunch and there may be some who do not like the idea of organ donation. It is a risk Helene knows Justin must weigh very carefully.

Justin may not have jumped on board the campaign yet, but there were several other folks that did. Several Canadian politicians tweeted their support, which may have led to the sharp increase in visits the Canadian site, beadonor. The site director reveals 326 people registered as organ donors yesterday. Compared to the 50 or so they normally get, Helene's idea worked.

Imagine if Justin does decide to tweet his support. Can the site handle the massive upswing in visits? It would be tragic to cause the site to crash when Justin's 16 million plus followers tried to register.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to ask Lady Gaga to help out. The legal age of consent to become an organ donor is 16. Considering the average age of a Justin Bieber fan, that eliminates at least half of his 16 million fans.

Op-Ed: Let's bring back Derek Bieber and get Justin Bieber some rest

Do all you Justin Bieber fans remember Derek Bieber? The guy who looked, walked and talked like Justin Bieber? He appeared last summer and became an internet sensation for a day or two and then just disappeared again. Poof!

I say bring him back. Like right now. Because Justin deserves a rest from the endless stories about him and Derek could help him get one. After all, having all the accusations and personal stuff in the media every day must get tiring. Right now there's a story about Justin ignoring a plea from someone seeking an organ donor and another about him kissing Selena Gomez against a fridge. On and on.

So all we do is simply substitute Derek Bieber for Justin when stories like that come up. If someone files a blatantly false paternity suit against a Bieber, we'll make that Derek Bieber. It would free Justin's time up and reduce his mental stress and besides, Derek Bieber hasn't much to do anyhow. He's not even real!
Derek Bieber: Just a 'lookalike"

In case you forget, Derek Bieber was born when TMZ was hounding Justin Bieber coming out of the Katsuya restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. in L.A.. on Aug. 10, 2011. TMZ wanted to know about a bogus story Foxnews ran with, a story which claimed Justin Bieber was rude to flight staff on a trip to Asia.

Justin was simply trying to get into his car but he did his best to act relaxed and to talk to the guy and not mind the video camera pointed at him as he walked. Indeed, they were asking him about what it was like to be famous and have people hounding him everywhere he went. Which is exactly what they were doing.

"I'm famous? I'm a celebrity? I didn't even realize," Bieber joked. "My name's Derek and I'm just a lookalike and I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm just hanging out and having a combo."
Hordes of Bieber fans Google 'Derek Bieber'

That innocent remark wound up creating the Bieber alter-ego and it went viral for awhile. But he was never heard from again, Derek Bieber, and yet given he looks and talks and walks just like Justin Bieber, he could be a stand-in for Justin whenever things get mean or invasive. If Justin gets hounded by paparazzi and in frustration finally fingers them? We'll blame Derek Bieber instead.

The basic premise of this thought is that Justin Bieber's a pretty darn decent guy and we should give him time off now and again. So, Derek Bieber, get prepared to be followed, to be hounded, to be quoted and misquoted. Get ready to have your relationships played out in the press, your religion criticized and your entire life turned into a cultural sideshow.

And do it with a smile because it's all for a good cause - to give Justin Bieber a rest.

Twitter appeal uses Bieber fans to raise organ donor awareness

A young Ottawa woman's hopes to raise awareness for organ donation as she heads to Toronto to await a new pair of lungs was one of the area's hottest Twitter trends Thursday, fuelled in part by attempts to get Canadian pop idol Justin Bieber and his fans in on the campaign.

The plight of Hélène Campbell, whose need of new lungs was featured in a recent Citizen series about organ transplants, became a focus of the Twitterverse after a friend of hers, Kelly Logan, started a movement to urge people to tweet Bieber's account (@ justinbieber) in the hope that more people will go online to beadonor.com to register to be organ donors. The province's rate of registration, as well as that of Ottawans, is at 20 per cent.

"We decided to tweet Justin Bieber because he's Canadian and has lots of fans," Campbell said on Thursday. "We hope it will raise awareness.

"It's super easy and lives can be saved."

While no word has yet been heard from Bieber, his musical director and guitarist, Dan Kanter, re-tweeted the message, asking others to spread the word of her story.

A video, made by Logan and featuring Campbell, was put on YouTube on Tuesday (http: //bit.ly/zVEH5R), and has since attracted close to 9,000 views.

And while she knows it's not likely to help her in her plight, Campbell says she's glad she can turn her negative situation into something positive.

"I'm a Belieber that Justin Bieber will help us raise awareness for organ donations," she joked.

A 20-year-old Barrhaven resident, Campbell was diagnosed in July with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Her lungs, scarred and inflamed, are currently working at less that onequarter capacity.

In a story that appeared in the Citizen on Jan. 3, she lamented that she didn't know if her failing lungs would last until a new pair could be found.

"I'm dealing with it," she said at the time.

"What other choice do I have? I can't avoid this; this is something I have to deal with, and so far I'm doing well."

Last Friday, she received a phone call from the Toronto General Hospital, asking her to move to Toronto to begin the wait for lungs. She and her mother, Manon Roy Campbell, left Ottawa on Thursday, and will stay in an apartment of a friend's friend, just five blocks from the hospital, the only facility in the province that performs lung transplants.

She will see a surgeon next Wednesday, and expects to then officially be put on the waiting list.

"He'll give me a pager," she said, "and then I'll officially be waiting.

"Right now I'm just waiting to be waiting."

She adds that she's been given a Priority 2 designation, the middle of three available options. Priority 3 patients, she says, are the most urgent cases, while those in the Priority 1 category face longer wait times.

"I'm where I want to be. Moving to Toronto is a step forward. Being on the list is another step forward, and then it's just a matter of getting the right size and type of lungs.

"Hopefully it won't take four years."

Still, the wait may be a daunting one: she's only been told that the average wait in Ontario for lungs is between six months and two years.

Her schedule while in Toronto includes three weekly three-hour physiotherapy sessions, as well as a weekly support group with others in similar situations.

For the rest, she's taken plenty of books with her, as well as lots of videos that she and her friends have shot over the past two years, with the intent of editing them.

"I'm also going to ride the subway from one end to the other," she said.

"The rest of the time," she added, "I'll be waiting."

Justin Bieber Wants to Pee in Peace

Justin Bieber likes to pee in peace, and would really appreciate it if his fans wouldn't ask for autographs and pictures while he is trying to do so. He loves his fans, but claims that love "doesn't extend to the bathroom."

According to a report from OK Magazine, the Baby and Never Say Never singer posted messages to his fans on both Facebook and Twitter recently, telling them he's not a robot.

"Let me piss first," he begs of them. It seems fans--in addition to following him directly into the men's room--also forget that he, like anyone else, occasionally has to pee.

Can you imagine being followed by fans or by the paparazzi to the extent that they follow you into the bathroom? Most people don't even want their most intimate friends around when relieving themselves--let alone perfect strangers. How awkward a situation must that be?

People should really know better, too. How incredibly rude is it of anyone to follow someone they don't know--even if he is Justin Biebecy!r--into the bathroom. That's a place where people expect and deserve some privacy.

Hopefully no one blames Justin for laying down the law when it comes to his bathroom business. It should actually be a non-issue. If people can't have at least that much respect for someone, then they don't deserve a photo or an autograph. In fact, they really don't even deserve the time of day.

Have you ever followed a celebrity into the bathroom in search of a photo or an autograph? Were you met with a warm reception or a very peculiar look?

Don't do that again!
