Justin Bieber Ignores Organ Donor Plea

Justin Bieber was asked to retweet a message in support of organ donation yesterday, but he has not done so. Despite his lack of support, Helene Campbell is satisfied with the attention her cause managed to raise.

The 20-year-old appealed to Justin's charitable nature and asked him to tweet his support of organ donation. The singer has not done so thus far, but someone from his camp did. Helene is thankful for any support her cause gets. She tells the Ottawa Citizen, "The fact that Dan Kanter mentioned something is really cool." She admits her hopes were raised after Kanter's tweet and was positive Justin would answer her call. He did not.

In fact, Justin has remained pretty quiet on the social-networking site. Celebrities have to be very careful what they say or tweet. The public is a finicky bunch and there may be some who do not like the idea of organ donation. It is a risk Helene knows Justin must weigh very carefully.

Justin may not have jumped on board the campaign yet, but there were several other folks that did. Several Canadian politicians tweeted their support, which may have led to the sharp increase in visits the Canadian site, beadonor. The site director reveals 326 people registered as organ donors yesterday. Compared to the 50 or so they normally get, Helene's idea worked.

Imagine if Justin does decide to tweet his support. Can the site handle the massive upswing in visits? It would be tragic to cause the site to crash when Justin's 16 million plus followers tried to register.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to ask Lady Gaga to help out. The legal age of consent to become an organ donor is 16. Considering the average age of a Justin Bieber fan, that eliminates at least half of his 16 million fans.
