Justin Bieber Fans Attack Ricky Gervais?

Justin Bieber fans have apparently been attacking Ricky Gervais, because the comedian recently tweeted about needing protection from them.

The comedian knew that going after one of the most popular pop stars in the world at the Golden Globes would get him plenty of press, so he decided to bring up the whole Mariah Yeater baby scandal. However, he said something about the paternity suit that many Beliebers should agree with—there's no way that Justin could be the father of Mariah's baby boy.

But, of course, the funnyman didn't stop there; he went on to say that the only way the Biebs could impregnate a girl would be with Martha Stewart's old turkey baster. It's probably this comment that set off the Beliebers.

They've made death threats against Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez in the past, so it wasn't all that surprising when Ricky Gervais posted this message on Twitter: "Getting out of town now. Bieber fans aren't happy with me. That's some scary sh**. Ha ha. Bye LA. hello NY!" So perhaps Justin Bieber fans were also making threats on his life—or maybe Ricky was just joking.

A short time later, he posted this message: "OK. I've got enough protection against Bieber fans now...." The tweet was accompanied by a photo of Ricky holding an adorable Pomeranian with hair that would make the Biebs envious.

So basically he was trying to imply that a purse-sized pooch is all the guard dog he needs to protect himself against Beliebers. And he might have a point—most of Justin Bieber's fans are girls, a cute puppy might distract them just long enough for Ricky Gervais to get a clean getaway. But since Ricky is an animal lover, surely he wouldn't subject his furry friend to such a fate.

And of course he wasn't using really hoping to use the Pomeranian for protection. Instead the pup was clearly meant to be yet another insult to Beliebers. So since he just had to make one more joke at their expense, he better be ready for further retaliation.

Golden Globes 2012: Ricky Gervais' 5 Most Inappropriate Moments

Ricky Gervais has made such an art of pissing people off as the host of the Golden Globes, it's hard to imagine the show without him. Sadly, his sartorial skills were underused during the 2012 Golden Globes. He was suspiciously absent from the stage, and kept his jokes fairly tame when he did get a moment or two in the spotlight.

Still, this is Ricky Gervais, so he was hardly warm and fuzzy. He definitely had us laughing, and occasionally gasping, out loud with his well-placed barbs.

In honor of his hilarity, here are Ricky's five most inappropriate — but fantastic — jokes of the night.

1. His opening speech. All of it. Seriously. We could quote the whole thing, but instead we'll single out our three favorite lines:

On NBC: "Tonight, you get Britain's biggest comedian hosting the world's second biggest award show on America's third biggest network. Oh, sorry, fourth. It's fourth." (He also referred to the struggling network as a "non-profit organization.")

On the Globes, and Kim Kardashian: "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton: a bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker, and more easily bought."

On Justin Bieber: "The only way he could impregnate a girl is if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart's turkey basters.”

2. How to make it in Hollywood. Ricky took on the entire room when introducing Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy: "[Melissa] made her mark on comedy this summer by defecating into a sink. What's amazing is that's still less shameful than what most of you have done to make your mark in show business."

3. On what's really important. Ricky encouraged the stars to keep their speeches short by focusing on the things that really matter: "You don't need to thank everyone you've ever met or members of your family, who have done nothing. Just the main two: Your agent and God.

4. Too much for TV. Ricky managed to push the envelope far enough to get himself bleeped while introducing Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek: "They're ridiculously talented, gorgeous specimens, and they're probably very interesting. I don't know, because I can't [bleep]." Antonio responded with a string of Spanish, so we assume Ricky said something about not being able to understand them.

5. Revealing the evil within. At the end, Ricky gave up on pointed insults, and just started throwing around accusations at random: "What you don't know about him is he's very racist... Also, I've seen him punch a blind kitten. Please welcome the evil Colin Firth."

At the beginning of the show Ricky noted, pretty accurately: "If I offend any viewers...they'll definitely invite me back next year." Well, how do you think he did? Should he be back in 2013?

Justin Bieber Insulted by 2012 Golden Globes Host Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais insulted Justin Bieber as part of his 2012 Golden Globes monologue. The Biebs wasn't the only casualty of the evening, by a long shot, and the insult wasn't really all that bad; however, it was a bit eyebrow-raising just the same.

According to a report from MSNBC, Gervais honed in on the paternity suit that was filed late in the fall by 23-year-old Mariah Yeater. The young woman claimed that Bieber was the father of her infant son.

A flurry on Internet rumors ensued, resulting in the Biebs saying he would voluntarily take a paternity test to prove he wasn't the father of Yeater's child.

Ricky Gervais hit a bit below the belt when insulting Justin Bieber—saying that in order for him to have impregnated this young woman, he would have had to borrow a turkey baster.

"Bieber—the only way he could have impregnated a girl would have been with one of Martha Stewarts old turkey basters!" he said.

Oh, Ricky. And it didn't even appear as though Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez were there to defend the remotely humorous words.

Do you think Justin Bieber will find it insulting once he realizes his sexual prowess has been pretty much dissed on live TV by Ricky Gervais at the 2012 Golden Globes? Or will he simply take it all in stride?

Justin has a pretty good sense of humor. He didn't let Mariah Yeater's allegations bring him down, so it's a pretty sure bet that Ricky Gervais's won't get to him, either.

Clooney's Dirty Jokes, Spanish Takeover: Most Memorable Moments From the 2012 Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais? Whatever. The British host wasn’t the only one worth talking about at the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards. He didn’t even give an erection update! (Thanks for that, Seth Rogen.) Here are the most memorable NON-Ricky moments of the 2012 show.

• Rob Lowe and Julianne Moore had a teleprompter malfunction toward the start of the show when they tried to introduce the new Miss Golden Globe. It forced a staff member to bring out a script so Julianne could do a “cold read.”

• Presenters Rob Lowe, Johnny Depp ,and Antonio Banderas competed for The George Hamilton Tan Award, while Johnny separately competed with Madonna for Most Questionable Accent.

• Elizabeth McGovern tripped while going up to the stage to accept the Best TV Miniseries award for Downton Abbey. The Dowager Countess of Grantham would be appalled!

• Tiny Fey photo-bombed Amy Poehler during the intro for Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series - Comedy or Musical. They were both nominated, but neither won
